The projected plan for the Wall Street project is on the north side. Removing 2 retaining walls, impacting the Carlton arboretum, cutting down burr oak trees some up to 300 years old and cutting down very old pines along the Oaklawn cemetery just feet from a number of graves.
The south side would be much better. It would impact holes #2 & 3 somewhat. Hole #3 could be shortened 100' as it doglegs to the south.
Kathleen Holmes is on both the Board of Directors of the private golf course, Northfield Golf Club, and is on the Northfield City Council, a possible conflict of interest.
In council videos she has expressed concerns as to the impact on hole #3 because of the plans for Wall Street's expansion.
The first picture is on the south east corner of Spring Creek & Wall Street, Hole # 3 is to the right.
The second picture is very old pines that would be cut down on the south side of the Oaklawn Cemetery.
The third picture on the north east corner of Wall & Spring Creek. It is an 300 year old burr oak tree that wouldn't survive David Bennett's chain saw.
Northfield City Council has no problem backhoeing Lincoln & Heritage driveways but is loathe to disturb Northfield Golf Club holes # 2&3.
